RYZE // LEAGUE OF LEGENDS
CHARACTER BUILD PROFILE
Character: genderbent Ryze, the rogue mage Game: League of Legends Photographer: friends Materials Cost: about 50$ Time: a few days Date Completed: August 2010 Debuted & Worn At: DragonCon 2010 THE MOTIVATION
As our friend Dave likes to tell the story, he heard about this thing called DragonCon where a bunch of weird people invaded Atlanta and dressed in costumes, and the next rational decision was that we needed to go. And make costumes. Deciding what our costumes would be from was easy. THE BUILD Do. Not. Paint. Yourself. With. Acrylic. Paints! The kind that you use for painting tableau's n' stuff. I did that because I was being cheap, and at the time I was not going to pay for a legit body paint when I could spend only 4$ on an entire tube. It chipped all day and it just ended up looking really weird. I had a few nice photographers tell me they'll fix it in post-production (did they? lol who knows!) The rest was a simple build with cardboard, belty straps, and a foam topper. THE EXPERIENCE Genderbending has become very popular in this fandom and I like to think that I was one of the first to do it. I did it because I loved playing the character, so I was gonna do it and, of course, be purple. |
