As our friend Dave likes to tell the story, he heard about this thing called DragonCon where a bunch of weird people invaded Atlanta and dressed in costumes, and the next rational decision was that we needed to go. And make costumes. Deciding what our costumes would be from was easy.
Do. Not. Paint. Yourself. With. Acrylic. Paints! The kind that you use for painting tableau's n' stuff. I did that because I was being cheap, and at the time I was not going to pay for a legit body paint when I could spend only 4$ on an entire tube. It chipped all day and it just ended up looking really weird. I had a few nice photographers tell me they'll fix it in post-production (did they? lol who knows!) The rest was a simple build with cardboard, belty straps, and a foam topper.
Genderbending has become very popular in this fandom and I like to think that I was one of the first to do it. I did it because I loved playing the character, so I was gonna do it and, of course, be purple.
